What We’re Up To

As always:

  • Guesthouse -  prepare for, welcome, and enjoy guests
  • Cleaning – this includes dishes, windows, floors, toilets and, my personal favorite meditation after dishes, making beds.
  • Breakfast – hearty breakfast needs to be ready at 8am
  • Food Prep – depending on our harvest and forage we make soda, salve, soap, wine, kraut, beer etc…
  • Daily Milking & Pasture – We milk twice/day and also take our goats to “pasture” daily as well

Fall 2011

Restoration of the Storefront ended up taking up ALL of our time and energy, along with caring for our very busy season with Farm-Stay guests. So most of this list carries over to Fall 2011! We are proud to announce that it is almost complete!!!

  • Fine-tune Lazy-Lady Living course
  • Build new Barn
  • Restore Hive
  • Acquire 2 fiber goats
  • Plan our Aquaculture set-up and Greenhouse
  • Plan Cobb oven and Sauna
  • Bring on team of interns
  • Carry out Fall events

Spring/Summer 2011

  • planting of newly created beds
  • design & build solar fridge
  • make soap for guesthouse and farm stand
  • Writing and Research – Goats in the City Manual, Nourishing Traditions study guide,
  • Building – covered bike parking structure, guest bathroom, sauna and outdoor shower, greenhouse
  • Storefront Restoration
  • Event planning – art openings?, open farm days,  May Day / Beltaine, Summer Solstice
  • Marketing – mostly postering the town
  • Farm-Stand – getting it up and running, selling eggs and milk etc
  • Shoe-Shelf-Shop – get labels and descriptions
  • Planting and Watering – now that the driveway is torn out, the beds need preparing and then we will be planting a lot of perennial plants and some annual veggies. We will need to check water levels for new plantings
  • Compost – get a vermiculture system started already!!!
  • New Seasons etc – extablish a partnership where we pay them for produce waste for feeding the goats and poultry.
  • Find a lot nearby for rent (with or without house) to expand herd
  • Chicken Slaughter – annual downsizing, this year it might be ducks and maybe a couple chickens
  • Graphic /Web Design – design postcards and get photos on the website

Winter/Spring 2011
